Does this look like you? If so we need to have a serious talk. Getting yourself organized is one of the main ingredients of living a stress free life. Are you tired of feeling stressed out and overwhelmed with everything that is on your plate? Are you even getting anything done or are you procrastinating because you don't know where to begin? Have you ever heard the saying, "Eating the elephant one bite at a time?" If you're not a natural born planner then I have good news, it's a skill that can be learned! It's as easy as 1, 2, 3. Grab a pen and a notebook and let's begin.
The first step is to make a list of everything that needs to be done. Did you know that making lists releases endorphins? (a feel good chemical that gives you that euphoric feeling) When you write down what needs to be done, while you sleep your brain goes through the list and when you wake up you feel like the task is completed making it easier to concentrate on it. (weird I know but science doesn't lie)
Step 2. PROCRASTINATE!
What!!!? You're telling me to procrastinate? I thought this was about time management so I can get more done, why would you tell me to procrastinate??? Guess what!? You're always going to procrastinate on something so why not choose to let the things go that don't need to be tended to? Like say, checking your email every 5 minutes? Getting on facebook to see if anyone new has "liked" your status, skipping that afternoon or evening tv show or texting for hours with your bff about the latest life events for the day. Am I saying there is anything wrong with these things? Nope, I'm not. BUT if you want to be successful and you're finding your day to pass you by faster than that jet plane that just flew across the sky then you are going to have to find the time to get things done from somewhere. 98% of the population is failing miserably and this is one of the major reasons why... they are being a slave to their time rather than making time their slave. Please take a moment right now and think about how much time you would have just by cutting out those few things we just discussed.
Step 3. Make a decision and resolve to do it
Your insides may be screaming right now, I never said this would be easy but I promise you that if you do this and stick to it for at least 30 days it will become a part of you and you will start reaping the rewards of accomplishing your goals. It takes 21 days to make or break a habit, so in a month you are really going to start feeling good from everything you accomplish and you will find your life will start moving forward and you will be heading down that road you've been longing to take for the last 5, 10, 15 years. If you're like anybody you have dreams and goals inside of you that you have been wanting to accomplish but the busyness of life has gotten in the way. Right here right now, if you want your life to start moving forward so you can stop being stressed and have the life you have been dreaming of then let's make the decision that you are going to do this. Forget the past, take your pen and paper and start making those lists.
